Woman dies, 3 hospitalized in critical condition after Maricopa house fire

When first responders arrived on scene three people were outside the home and firefighters had to pull out one person trapped inside. The woman who was trapped inside later died at the hospital.

MARICOPA, Ariz. — Maricopa Police Department say four people are in critical condition after escaping a burning home near Hartman and Honeycutt roads in Maricopa Wednesday morning.

When first responders arrived on scene, a man and woman, both 19, and a 2 -year-old child had already escape the house and were on the roof.

Neighbor Samson Reneau said used a ladder to climb on the roof to help them down.

“The fire was on the right side of the window, so my first reaction was go and get the ladder and jump over the wall and help them down," Reneau said. "I prayed before I did that.”

Firefighters had to pull out a 19-year-old woman who was trapped inside, according to police.

Police say all four victims were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The 19-year-old woman later died at the hospital.

The child remains in critical condition. The 19-year-olds have been downgraded to good condition.
