An unforgettable experience and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is about to touch down in Phoenix at the Heard Museum on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
This tour began in October at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
“Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera at the Heard will provide our visitors a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience firsthand some of the most famous and iconic paintings ever created,” said David M. Roche, Heard Museum director and CEO in a release. “This exhibit further allows the museum to explore the intersection of American Indian art with broader mainstream artistic movements such as Surrealism and Modernism.”
Frida's work is more personal and intimate and Diego's are more large upscale public art pieces.
According to the release, 33 paintings will be exhibited until Aug. 20 at the Heard Museum in the newly opened Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Grand Gallery.
Not only will there be paintings, but there will also be 70 photographs taken by several photographers including Lola Guillermo Kahlo, Frida Kahlo's brother, Edward Weston and more
