MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. — A man died after being shot Sunday in Mohave Valley, according to officials with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a home near the Mohave Valley Highway and Laguna Drive just before 11 a.m. on Sunday after reports of a shooting. Officials said Joshua Perea, 39, was found dead when they arrived at the scene. Deputies also found a handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting at the scene.
Detectives responded to the scene and a short investigation revealed the man was shot by his girlfriend after a "verbal and physical domestic violence incident," a statement from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said.
The woman was not arrested, officials said. Detectives talked with several witnesses at the scene and the woman and said the investigation is ongoing.
"Once completed, the investigation will be forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office for review of potential charges," sheriff's office officials said.
