Hurricane in Arizona? Rosa expected to bring heavy rainfall, wind across state

The remnants of Hurricane Rosa are expected to make their way into Arizona early next week.

PHOENIX — A current look at the seven-day forecast in Phoenix shows a drastic drop in temperature to the high 80s by the start next week.

But low temps are not the only weather-related thing coming next week. Storm chances, as early as Monday, have popped back up in the forecast.

However, these are no monsoon storms. Monsoon 2018 officially ends Sunday. These storms are being brought on by something else: A hurricane off the Pacific coast of Mexico southwest of Baja California.

The remnants of Hurricane Rosa are expected to make their way into Arizona early next week bringing heavy rain to the state which will likely peak late Monday night into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix says heavy rainfall and flooding "will be the main impacts." The Flagstaff office says to prepare for damaging winds.

Phoenix could see 2 to 3" of rain, according to current estimates, while Flagstaff could see upwards of 4" of rain.
