Heavy rain floods areas north of Flagstaff

The Red Cross has opened a shelter for those affected by the flooding.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Heavy rains north of Flagstaff flooded areas along the Highway 89 corridor Wednesday afternoon.

Videos posted by the Coconino County Sheriff's Office show flood waters rushing through the Timberline neighborhood northeast of Flagstaff.

The American Red Cross of Northern Arizona has opened a shelter at Sturgeon Cromer Elementary School, located at 7150 Silver Saddle Road, to support those affected.

Red Cross said volunteers will staff the shelter as long as there is a need in the community.
