TUCSON, Ariz. — Editor's Note: The above video is from a previous flyover in the Phoenix area.
On Thursday, May 14, Tucson-area residents should look to the sky for a unique air show.
As a salute to all of the front line heroes during the coronavirus outbreak, the 355th Wing, assigned to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, and the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing, operating from Tucson International Airport, will honor Pima County’s first responders and medical professionals fighting with a community flyover.
The formation will include four aircraft, including two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and two F-16 Fighting Falcons, according to officials. The flyover will start around 2:00 p.m. and will last approximately 40 minutes.
If you are interested in viewing the flyover, the flight path will take the planes over a variety of facilities that support the fight against COVID-19 in the region.
“Morris Air National Guard Base and Davis–Monthan Air Force Base recognize the healthcare personnel and first responders who are serving beyond measure during this trying time of the COVID pandemic,” said Col. Jeffrey Bulter, 162nd Wing commander. “We are extremely grateful for your service to the people of Tucson and the great state of Arizona.”
A more detailed timeline of the flyover can be found on the Facebook pages of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the 162nd Air Refueling Wing.
