Arizona couple violently attacked by stranger during their morning walk

The sheriff's office said both victims sustained serious facial injuries and one of them had to be airlifted to a Tucson hospital.

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — A couple's daily morning walk around their Arizona neighborhood ended in a nightmare after a stranger allegedly attacked them, the sheriff's office said.

On the morning of Jan. 20, a 67-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man were walking around Camino Principal and San Paulo in a Sierra Vista neighborhood, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.

The couple said they noticed a man yelling at them and tried to distance themselves from him. The man allegedly continued to follow them, resulting in a physical attack. They told CCSO the man punched both of them repeatedly before they managed to flee and call for help back at their residence.

CCSO said the man and woman both suffered severe facial injuries, resulting in the woman having to be airlifted to a Tucson hospital to be treated for a fractured nasal bone and a brain bleed.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Kyle Stoll, was found by deputies walking in another neighborhood and "covered in blood," CCSO said.

Stoll was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated assault. CCSO said the victims did not know Stoll and the attack appears to be random.
