Former Arizona State guard Jermaine Marshall died of natural causes, his family announced two weeks after his death.

Marshall was in France playing for the Nantes Basketball Club when he was found dead at his home on Jan. 18.

Marshall had heart complications that had gone undetected, his family told ESPN. France authorities performed the autopsy.

"Our family was exceptionally blessed to know and love Jermaine. Incredibly talented, funny, thoughtful, a fierce competitor and a superb athlete who had an unbelievable work ethic and reputation," his family said in a statement, according to ESPN. "Jermaine fell in love with the game of basketball at an early age. He went on to fulfill a life-long dream of playing at the college level and professionally for the Hermine Nantes basketball team in Nantes, France. Jermaine was loved by teammates and fans all over the world."
