Suspect in fatal Glendale shooting apprehended in Texas

Two men were shot, and Sandoval later died at the hospital.
Information received from a Peoria police officer led to the identification of the suspect as 39-year-old Rodolfo Apolinar Cardenas.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A suspect in a Glendale shooting that left one man dead and another wounded has been located in Texas.

Glendale police say 39-year-old Rodolfo Apolinar Cardenas was arrested Wednesday in San Antonio and is awaiting extradition.

Investigators say 26-year-old Martiniano Sandoval Jr., of Phoenix, was wounded in the July 8 shooting and later died at a hospital.

Witnesses reported that there was a verbal argument between the suspect and victims just prior to the shooting.

The other victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses reported a suspect had fled the scene. Police identified Cardenas as the suspect.

An arrest warrant was issued for first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His vehicle was found in Tucson. Detectives then determined he had fled to Texas.

It was not immediately known Friday if Cardenas had retained an attorney.

He is being held on a $2 million bond.
