Phoenix strip club bouncer sentenced to 10 years for murder of off-duty firefighter

The sentencing was part of a plea deal.

PHOENIX - Brandon Draper, a former bouncer at the Centerfolds Cabaret in Phoenix, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for the murder of off-duty Daisy Mountain firefighter Luke Jones.

The sentencing was part of a plea deal.

Prior to being sentenced, Draper sat at a courtroom table and listened to Heather Jones, the widow of Luke Jones, address the court.

"I can't even explain to you the heartache that I have experienced and the trauma that Luke's death has caused me," she said. "Trying to live life without him has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do."

Draper was arrested for second-degree murder back in 2017 in connection to Jones' death, along with the club's manager Timothy Piegari.

According to police at the time, during an altercation, Draper pushed Jones to the ground, climbed on top of him and punched him multiple times.

Jones was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Piegari was arrested for tampering with evidence and hindering an investigation.

Draper spoke briefly before he was sentenced.

"This is something that will weigh heavy on me for the rest of my life. I will go to my grave knowing what I have done," he said.
