Mesa police holding community meeting after string of burglaries

A north Mesa neighborhood has seen three break-ins over the last two weeks and Mesa police will speak to the community about what's being done to stop them.

MESA, Ariz. — A neighborhood in north Mesa has seen a string of burglaries over the past couple of weeks, and now the Mesa Police Department will host a community meeting to talk about them.

A neighborhood near McKellips Road and Val Vista Drive has reported three break-ins over the past two weeks. So far, these break-ins have not been connected to the Valley-wide string of burglaries 12News has been covering for the past few weeks.

Mesa police will hold a community meeting to discuss "the current situation, what is being done, and how you can protect your home, property and self."

The meeting will be held on March 6 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mesa Public Safety Training Center, which is located at 3260 N 40th Street in Mesa.

Police will specifically give advice on protecting your home by securing points of access, installing and activating security alarms and cameras and requesting extra patrols around your home when you go out of town.
