PD: Man dead after early morning shooting in Phoenix

Investigators said they believe the man was shot near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road, and was found near 26th Avenue and Pierson Street.

PHOENIX — A man was fatally shot in Phoenix Friday morning, the city police department said. Two areas connected to the shooting are expected to be closed for an extended time.

According to early reports, officers found the man injured near 26th Avenue and Pierson Street just after 2:30 a.m. First responders pronounced him dead on the scene.

Investigators said they believe the shooting happened near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road nearby.

Police are working to learn more about what led up to the shooting, and both areas will be closed for the investigation.

The deceased man has been identified as 30-year-old Ray Sandfield.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
