PHOENIX — The bicyclist who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a SUV near 15th and Southern avenues Thursday night has died.
Mario B. Hernandez-Roman, 25, was riding in the left lane near 1400 West Southern Avenue when he was struck my a SUV heading east.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The driver of a white SUV fled the scene, police say. The SUV was found abandoned in a parking lot a short distance from the scene.
The registered owner of the SUV tried to report it stolen, according to police.
Police haven't confirmed who was driving the SUV at the time of the fatal hit-and-run.
