'Strong, dynamic women': Family remembers mother, daughter killed in double murder-suicide on Christmas Eve

Phoenix police said Cindy Domini, 83, and Molly Domini-Cash, 47, were shot and killed on Christmas Eve at a holiday gathering.

PHOENIX — Family and friends are remembering two women tragically killed on Christmas Eve as mothers who loved fiercely and teachers who cared boldly.

"Strong, dynamic women," Craig Domini said.

Craig Domini describes his mother, Cindy Domini, and sister, Molly Cash in many of the same ways.

"They loved life, they believed in what they believed unwaveringly, they loved who they loved," Craig Domini said.

Cindy Domini, 83, was a mother to five, grandmother to eight and a school teacher to hundreds of students across the Valley.

"She was a just a confident, vocal, beautiful, wonderful person that just was true to what she believed in," Craig Domini said.

Cash, 47, had many titles. Her role as a mother to her son was above all else.

"She was bigger than life. She was outspoken. She was strong in her convictions," Craig Domini said.

While family was at the forefront of her life, Cash made friends wherever she went.

"She made everything louder and she made everything brighter, you know, bigger," Jennifer Spector, Cash's friend, said. "Everything was bigger and that was her."

Those who knew Cash said she was filled with passion for the people around her and her home state of Arizona.

"She loved her family," Spector said. "There is nothing she would not do for her family."

Craig Domini told 12News his mother and sister shared a special bond. They together for the past few years as Cindy Domini lived with Alzheimer's disease.

"She gave her a life that was happy, that was full, and I'm so grateful to Molly for that," Craig Domini said.

Strong and loyal is who Domini and Cash were, and that's how they'll always be remembered.

"They just were wonderful, wonderful, amazing women," Craig Domini said.

As he grieves his own family, Craig Domini told 12News he's also thinking about the other families suffering through this tragedy.

Phoenix police said 47-year-old David DeNitto, the widower of former Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel, allegedly shot and killed Domini and Cash before turning the gun on himself.

"There are children that have lost a father. I pray for them. I offer them strength," Craig Domini said. "I hope that God provides them the strength that they need to move forward."

Friends of Cash created a GoFundMe page to help family pay for funeral services.
