TUCSON, Ariz. — An Arizona man was sentenced to 122 months in prison — over ten years — for sexual abuse he committed on numerous occasions over several years.

Charles Moreno, 61, was sentenced to 122 months in prison followed by lifetime supervised release, according to the United States Attorney's Office, District of Arizona. Moreno pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor, abuse of a minor and two counts of abusive sexual contact in 2023. Moreno was indicted in 2020.

In 2018, the high-school-aged victim reported to a school counselor that Moreno had committed sexual abuse on numerous occasions, beginning when the victim was in grade school.

The crimes took place in Tucson and on the Tohono O'odham Nation, which Moreno was a member of. Moreno was indicted by a federal grand jury on 14 counts of sexual abuse.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tohono O'odham Police Department conducted the investigation of this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Micah Schmit, District of Arizona, Tucson, handled the prosecution of the case.
