18-year-old arrested for allegedly shooting, killing man in Phoenix after verbal argument

PHOENIX — An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing another man after an argument broke out in Phoenix early Sunday. 

The Phoenix Police Department said Jacob Soto was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing 31-year-old Felipe Villanueva around 3 a.m. Sunday. 

Officers responded to a call of unknown trouble in the area of 43rd and Northern avenues and found Villanueva's body. 

Detectives found that Villanueva and Soto had gotten into an altercation in an alley in the area. 

After a verbal argument, Soto allegedly shot Villanueva, who died from his injuries. 

It was not immediately known what the argument was about. 

Soto was taken into custody, where he allegedly admitted to his involvement in the shooting death. 

He has since been booked into the Maricopa County Jail and charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and misconduct involving weapons. 

No other information was immediately released.
