PHOENIX — Late-night cram sessions, frantic studying, stressing about the exact score you need to make on this test to pass the class... Ah, exam season, how we don't miss you.

For the students still in Arizona's school system, sorry, but we're gonna have a little fun at your expense.

With three state universities and a whole lot of private schools, Google Trends data from the last month showed a lot of exam questions going up Arizonans' search bars. So, we took a look at some of the most frequently searched questions in Arizona.

What is DNA made of?

It's that goopy spirally stuff that shows up on the covers of science textbooks, right?

Jokes aside, DNA is made from chemical building blocks called nucleotides — adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine if you're curious. Each of those is made of a few hydrogen atoms and nitrogen atoms arranged in various structures. It takes about 3 billion of those nucleotides to make up the complete DNA instruction book for a person.

What is the longest stage of the cell cycle called?

It's interphase — when the cell grows and copies its DNA before it splits apart.

The question itself isn't that amusing, but it really reflects just how often science questions were coming up in the data. Step aside, book summaries, STEM is the new pain point for students.

What is a narrative essay/how long is an essay?

Take it from a bunch of reporters, worrying about how much to write, or what to write, is never going to stop. That said, there are great resources out there for sharpening your essay game.

We recommend William Zinsser's On Writing Well.

How to factor trinomials

How many reporters does it take to factor a trinomial? More than are employed are at 12News, apparently!

This one took a lot of Googling on our part and a lot of "Oh, duh!" when we saw how simple it was. Thanks for the help, Cuemath.

It boils down to breaking a relatively lengthy mathematical expression into two parts that can be multiplied together to get back to the original expression.

Just don't ask us to do it for you.

What is the average ACT score?

The jury's out on whether this was question was from concerned students or really concerned parents. Whether you're looking to beat the mean or just seeing how you stack up, don't worry... This is one exam you can retake plenty of times.
