'Good cluck!' Fern and Daisy, Butterfly Wonderland's loveable chickens, get retirement party

The popular conservatory chickens are headed to greener pastures to live out the rest of their days.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Why did the chickens cross the Valley?

For greener pastures, of course.

On Wednesday, two Malaysian Serma Bantam chickens, Daisy and Fern, were the focus of a retirement party at Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale.

Fern and Daisy have been at Butterfly Wonderland since they were chicks in 2017.

"(They) quickly became a star attraction themselves with annual passholders and tourists alike who liked to watch the fun-loving birds strut their stuff around Butterfly Wonderland’s lush landscape," the conservatory said in a statement.

However, staff noticed they were slowing down due to age and wanted to give them a peaceful place to live out the rest of their lives. The chickens will return to the farm where they were hatched—Inspiration Farms in Mesa.

The conservatory couldn't say goodbye to two of their family members without a party. Fern and Daisy were treated to a cake, a toast goodbye and big cards for guests to wish them good "cluck."

We wish Daisy and Fern the happiest retirement.
