Historic Arizona Biltmore hotel celebrates 95th anniversary

The hotel opened on Feb. 23, 1939 and has since hosted almost every single U.S. president.

PHOENIX — It's the birthplace of the Tequila Sunrise and the preferred resort of celebrities the world over. Host to nearly every president since Herbert Hoover and steeped in Southwest luxury, the historic Arizona Biltmore is celebrating its 95th Anniversary.

The resort's doors first opened on Feb. 23, 1929, to a colossal three-day gala with hundreds of guests attending. Since then it's been a private retreat for some of the most influential players of the 20th century.

And with its 95th birthday on Friday, the resort is celebrating in style.

The Arizona Biltmore is offering a $1,929 anniversary package that comes with a stay in a historic cottage, a full tour of the grounds, a spa and food and beverage credit, a complimentary bottle of Champagne in a keepsake container and a copy of their new 95th anniversary history book.

We have a glimpse back in time at some of the hotel's distinctive guests and the changes it has been through during its prestigious lifetime:
