PHOENIX — The Arizona State Fair turns 140 years old this Fall! And yes, that's older than the state of Arizona itself.
The fair is running from Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 27. It's open Thursdays through Sundays.
This year, they're putting the focus on the 140-year milestone and embracing a birthday theme!
The fair was established in 1884 as the Territorial Fair, almost 30 years before Arizona became a state in 1912. Now, the annual event draws more than 1 million visitors from across the state and around the world.
“140 years is not a small milestone,” said Wanell Costello, Executive Director of the Arizona State Fair. “We are very excited to celebrate over a century of traditions and bring the community together for the biggest birthday party in the state.”
The Arizona State Fair is holding an early ticket sale this Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 1:40 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
