Motorcyclist dies in Scottsdale crash

The collision happened just south of the intersection of Hayden and Indian School roads, police said.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a trailer in Scottsdale on Friday evening. 

The Scottsdale Police Department said that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound when they collided with the rear of a trailer being hauled. 

The crash happened south of the intersection of Hayden and Indian School roads. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. 

The area will be closed for several hours as an investigation continues. It is unclear if impairment or speed played a role in the collision at this time.

Driving Safety Tips: 

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) offers driving tips to help keep people safe on the road. 

"There’s always room for improvement when it comes to road safety," the department said on its website. 

ADOT's suggestions include: 

  • Don’t speed or drive aggressively 

  • Never drive while under the influence of substances 

  • Avoid distractions while driving 

  • Wear your seatbelt and make sure all passengers are doing the same 

  • When an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, move over 

  • Stay extra aware in work zones 

  • Be prepared for weather conditions that make driving dangerous
