Former Flagstaff officer indicted for punching woman

He resigned in January rather than being fired for the incident.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Former Flagstaff police officer Jeff Bonar has been indicted on assault charges after he was caught on video punching a woman in the face in November.

Bonar resigned from the Flagstaff Police Department in January rather than being fired for punching Marissa Morris.

Bonar said he believed Morris had warrants out for her arrest, but they had already been served when he approached her outside her home.

The punch was not caught on Bonar's body camera, which he had turned off in his car after making initial contact at the scene.
