A fan group hoping to honor Marvel comics icon Stan Lee had to cancel their event Tuesday after permits couldn't be obtained.
The Blue Ribbon Army was hoping to hold a costume memorial walk Friday evening. The event was first planned for Tempe Town Lake, then moved to Mesa River View.
Tuesday the City of Mesa informed the group that a permit was needed to an event that size, but permits take 30 to 90 days to process.
