Man surrenders to police after early-morning standoff in Mesa

The man surrendered Thursday morning, according to police.

MESA, Ariz - A man has surrendered after a standoff with Mesa Police started about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, a man with an order of protection filed against him showed up at a home. Neighbors spotted the man and knew he was not supposed to there.

Officials say they then called police.

When police showed up there was an exchange of gunfire, police say. The man then went into the home and barricaded himself inside.

No injuries were initially reported.

After several hours, the man surrendered to police.
