Glendale officer review does not include mention of tasing incident

Glendale PD says because it was still under investigation, it was not included.

PHOENIX — 12 News obtained the most recent review of the police officer at the center of the controversial 2017 tasing arrest in Glendale.

The FBI is now investigating the events of the July 2017 traffic stop when Officer Matt Schneider and others tased Johnny Wheatcroft nearly a dozen times.

The tasing led to a three-day suspension. However, it was not mentioned in the 2017-2018 review of Officer Schneider's job performance.

Instead, the review was filled with glowing comments.

Superiors said Officer Schneider has the “it” factor when it comes to combating street crime, that he is “well versed in the law” with a “photographic memory."

However, the review did have one negative score, most of it relating to a workplace harassment investigation.

A letter of reprimand obtained by 12 news mentions a female officer who was subjected to a hostile work environment.

Schneider was accused of being insubordinate, bullying and making inappropriate comments.

According to the review, the harassment occurred from 2014 to 2017.
