Super Bowl LVII will be the third Super Bowl in 15 years hosted at University of Phoenix Stadium.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The NFL awarded future Super Bowls to Arizona and New Orleans on Wednesday.

The decision was made Wednesday at the league's annual spring meeting in Atlanta, which will host the 2019 Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“We look forward to making this the most fan friendly Super Bowl in history of Super Bowls.” Said Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill.

This will be eighth time the game is held at the 43-year-old Superdome, more than any other stadium. Its most recent Super Bowl was in 2013, which is remembered for the power going out during the second half , resulting in a 34-minute delay.

The retractable roof stadium in suburban Phoenix previously held the Super Bowl in 2008 and 2015, “This is fantastic news for the state of Arizona,” said Governor Doug Ducey.

The last time the Super Bowl came to Glendale the economic impact was estimated at around $720-million. The big game and all the parties and events associated with hosting a Super Bowl do require cities to spend extra money on public safety and other items.

The city of Phoenix spent more than $3.3 million for Super Bowl 49. City leaders however point to a tax revenue increase during the two months around the Super Bowl that jumped by almost $2 million from the same period the previous year.

The city releasing a statement that reads:

The city of Phoenix is excited that Arizona has been chosen to host Super Bowl 2023. Phoenix has a proven track record of successfully hosting major sporting events and providing world-class event environment. The city is experienced in providing top-notch services in public safety, transportation and street operations to ensure the NFL, its fans and our residents enjoy a seamless, safe and secure experience.

In addition, past Super Bowl events in downtown Phoenix have proven to be a tremendous economic driver for our region, increasing revenue from hotel bookings and retail as well as bringing jobs to our city from companies relocating to Phoenix.

After this season's game in Atlanta, the next three Super Bowls will be held at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in 2020, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in 2021 and the new Hollywood Park stadium in Los Angeles in 2022.
