Valley students to Gov. Ducey: 'We're coming back' after die-in

Valley students will be back and won't stop.

Following a "die-in" that lasted six hours Friday, Valley students say they're going to be back, and won't stop until they have a sit-down with Gov. Ducey.

"We want to be acknowledged, and we want to be heard," said Beyonce Brooks, one of the last five students to leave the capitol Friday night.

The students want to see a strict school safety plan. Including, a ban in bump stocks, comprehensive background checks and more school counselors.

Hundreds of students laid down side by side on the capitol floor Friday for about six hours. Most walked out of the state building linked arm in arm around 10 p.m.

A group of about five others stayed behind even longer, but were eventually escorted out by the Department of Public Safety.

"We had every intention to stay all night and wait for the governor. We were surprised when [DPS] then proceeded to grab us by the arm and forcefully escort us out of the building," said Jordan Harb.

The students are now planning another event this Thursday, April 26, and say they will keep coming back to the capitol until the governor sits down with them.

"Eventually, we will be too difficult to ignore because we are coming back." said Bronwyn Doebbeling.
