Need some advice for your turkey prep? Vanessa Ramirez is here to help!

Thanksgiving is just a couple days away and if you’re looking for ideas on how to cook your turkey,  Today in AZ’s Vanessa Ramirez is here to help.

Just in time for the holiday, Vanessa shares her father's turkey recipe with our viewers.

If you want to try out this tasty recipe, here’s everything you need.

Ingredients:

  • Turkey (20-25 lbs.)
  • 2 whole oranges, sliced
  • 2 whole lemons, sliced
  • 1 package of fresh rosemary
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • Salt - season to taste
  • Pepper – season to taste

What you’ll need:

  • Toothpicks
  • Heavy duty foil or turkey baking bags
  • Microwaveable bowl to melt butter.
  • Turkey roasting pan

Directions:

Start by preheating the oven according to the directions from the turkey packaging. After removing the thawed turkey from packaging, make to remove the neck and giblets from the turkey; discard the liver and reserve the neck and the rest of the giblets. (You can use reserved items for stuffing.)

Next, place the turkey in pan and put aside while you prepare the other ingredients. Rinse the lemons and oranges and cut them into thin slices.

Now, stuff some oranges and lemons inside of the turkey, under the skin and place more slices on the side of the legs, wings and on top of the breast (use toothpicks to hold fruit in place).

Next, melt the two sticks of butter with a few branches of rosemary in the microwave. After the butter is melted, but not boiling hot, pour all over the turkey and rub it in.

Add a few rosemary branches inside the turkey along with the fruit.

Finally, place the turkey in a baking bag or cover with foil and place in the oven to cook.  When it’s done remove toothpicks, let it cool and carve!
