Strong storms moved through Pinal County toward the Valley Monday evening, teasing the Phoenix area with the possibility of finally seeing some monsoon storms.

The east Valley saw some rain and blowing dust before 9 p.m. as the storms moved northwest. San Tan Valley, Queen Creek and Apache Junction were hit with heavy rain and strong winds. The northern part of the west Valley also saw a few showers.

Outage maps from APS and SRP showed more than 10,000 people were without power after 9 p.m. Monday as the storms moved through the Valley.

A dust storm warning went into effect around 8 p.m. when the outflows brought blowing dust to the east Valley. The dust impacted visibility on US 60 and Interstate 10 near Mesa.
