Windy weather ahead of Easter storm

Arizona’s weather is about to dramatically change over the holiday weekend.

PHOENIX — A wind advisory is in effect Friday across Northern Arizona for strong southwest winds that could burst up to 50 mph. Even outside of the advisory area, winds will still get gusty.

The wild winds will continue to crank statewide on Saturday and may create areas of blowing dust. Even the Valley could experience wind gusts in the 40s.

Our warm weather will stick through Saturday but then temperatures will tumble on Easter as a strong storm system sends showers and thunderstorms into our state. Lightning, flash flooding and small hail are threats with any thunderstorms that spark.

They Valley rainfall record for March 31 will likely be broken. The record is 0.27” set in 1949.

Arizona’s snow level will sit near 6,000 feet. 

Rain, snow and thunderstorm chances continue on Monday before a drying and warming trend kicks off on Tuesday for the rest of the week.
