Flood watches, advisories remain in effect in Arizona Friday morning

There are watches issued by the National Weather Service for parts of central and southeastern Arizona and are set to expire late in the morning or in the afternoon.

Flood watches and advisories remained in effect Friday morning across a broad swath of Arizona due to runoff from heavy rain in some areas.

The watches were issued by the National Weather Service for parts of central and southeastern Arizona and are set to expire late in the morning or in the afternoon.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office began evacuations around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Rimrock, along Beaver Creek after some homes got flooded.

Deputies and fire crew members assisted the elderly, children and pets, YCSO said.

The Yavapai County Emergency Management along with the Red Cross set a shelter at Beaver Creek Baptist Church near Beaver Creek Road and Sunset Drive.

At about 4 a.m., the evacuation order was canceled and YCSO asked residents to be extremely cautious since roads are flooded.

The weather service said Munds Park south of Flagstaff had 3.35 inches (8.5 centimeters) of rain and Happy Jack and Oak Creek Canyon had over 2 inches (5 centimeters).
