Fall storm brings rain, hail and gusting wind to Flagstaff area

Winds reaching up to 59 mph were reported at Sedona Airport.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A powerful storm near Flagstaff dropped rain and hail and brought gusting wind to the area Monday night.

Snowfall is likely overnight as temperatures drop to freezing lows. The National Weather Service reported soft hail known as graupel already falling north of the city.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for parts of Yavapai County, but it expired at 8:15 p.m.

Winds reaching up to 59 mph were reported at Sedona Airport.

Temperatures are expected to fall dramatically across Arizona on Tuesday.

Phoenix has a high temperature of just 70 degrees on the forecast, and Flagstaff is expected to see a low temperature of 24 degrees.

But NWS is also warning of strong winds that could make dust storms possible.
