Dust advisory for southern Valley expires

The dust advisory lasted until 8:45 p.m.

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a dust advisory for the southern part of the Valley, impacting areas including Maricopa, Gila Bend and Casa Grande.

The dust advisory lasted until 8:45 p.m.

A dust advisory is a sudden drop in visibility to one mile or less, but greater than 1/4 of a mile, resulting in widespread or localized blowing dust.

Just before 5:30 p.m., the NWS in Phoenix said isolated storms were popping up in Pinal County, which could result in gusty winds and blowing dust in west Pinal County and southwest Maricopa County.

While it's expected to stay south of the metro area, there could be some outflow. It's likely to stay near and south of Interstate 8, the NWS says.

This is a developing weather story. We will update with new information as it becomes available from the National Weather Service.
