CAVE CREEK, Ariz. — Cave Creek is indeed "rich" in history! You can explore the Cave Creek Mining District's heyday by taking part in The Arizona Gold Mining Experience at the Cave Creek Museum.
There are hands-on demonstrations and exhibits for the whole family to discover!
You can watch the complete hard rock ore extraction process with the mine shaft, tramway, ore carts, crushing, and extraction. Plus, you can blow up the mine shaft, pan for gold, and test your skills in the Blacksmith Shop.
The museum says it's home to Arizona's only fully operational ten-stamp ore crushing mill. It was brought down from its original location at the Golden Reef Mine on Continental Mountain, about five miles away.
May 27, 2023, is the last gold mining demonstration of the season. The museum closes down during the summer to work on exhibits.
