Weekend traffic report for Feb. 19 - Feb. 22

Here are the details for the current closures and detours on Valley roads this weekend. Vanessa Ramirez has the full report.

PHOENIX — Here’s a breakdown of the closures and restrictions you can expect to see around the Valley this weekend.

Northeast Valley

  • Loop 101 westbound is closed between SR 51 and 7th Street for a widening project from Friday 10 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. SR 51 northbound ramp to Loop 101 westbound is closed. The Loop 101 westbound on-ramp at Cave Creek Road is also closed. Loop 101 westbound traffic can detour on SR 51 southbound to westbound Union Hills Drive and use northbound 7th Street to access Loop 101 westbound. Drivers on Loop 101 westbound also can consider exiting to northbound 56th Street or Tatum Boulevard and using westbound Deer Valley Drive to southbound 7th Street. SR 51 northbound traffic can consider exiting to northbound Black Mountain Boulevard and using westbound Deer Valley Drive to southbound 7th Street.

Phoenix

  • I-17 northbound is closed between the I-10 "Split" interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and 7th Avenue and I-17 southbound closed between Durango Street/19th Avenue and 7th Street for bridge work from Saturday 5 a.m. until Monday 5 a.m. Both I-10 ramps to I-17 southbound at the "Stack" interchange near McDowell Road are closed. I-17 southbound on-ramps at McDowell Road and Grant Street are closed too. Drivers can detour on I-10 in the downtown Phoenix area to avoid I-17 closures. I-17 southbound traffic exiting at Durango Street/19th Avenue will be detoured to eastbound Buckeye.
  • Loop 202 northbound (South Mountain Freeway) off-ramp at Buckeye Road is closed for construction from Friday 11:30 p.m. until Saturday 8 p.m. Consider using other nearby off-ramps including Lower Buckeye Road.

As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
