Weekend traffic outlook for Mar. 22- Mar. 25

Construction and events will create some closures in the Valley this weekend.

Thank you for visiting 12news.com for the weekend traffic report. According to ADOT here’s what you need to know for March 22-25, 2019. Commuters will deal with a few closures and delays around the Valley this weekend.

Let’s start in the east valley. The Loop 101 westbound (Pima Freeway) is closed between Pima Road/Princess Drive and Scottsdale Road for placement of temporary barrier and lane-stripe adjustments as part of a freeway widening project, Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.

Drivers should expect heavy traffic and use alternate routes. Alternate routes include (1) taking westbound Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and re-entering the freeway at Scottsdale Road, 56th Street, Tatum Boulevard or State Route 51; and (2) exiting Pima Road/Princess Drive, traveling north on Pima Road, west on Thompson Peak Parkway and south on Scottsdale Road to re-enter Loop 101.

Pecos Road closed between 40th and 32nd streets for South Mountain Freeway drainage, traffic signal, intelligent transportation system technology and lighting installations Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Pecos Road restricted to westbound traffic only between 32nd and 24th streets. Access to Pecos Storage maintained from 32nd Street. Alternate routes include Chandler Boulevard.

I-10 eastbound is closed between 67th and 51st avenues for construction of South Mountain Freeway interchange Friday 9 p.m. t Saturday 8 p.m. I-10 Eastbound on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues are also closed. Access roads will remain open. To avoid delays, consider alternate routes including the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) west of Interstate 17 or exiting I-10 sooner and taking local streets to re-enter past the closure point.

HOV connecting ramp from westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Chandler closed for re-striping, Friday 9 p.m. to Saturday 5 a.m. Loop 202 westbound drivers can connect to Loop 101 using regular travel lanes.

There are a few events happening around town that will cause heavy traffic. Cirque Du Soleil has multiple shows throughout the weekend in the parking lot of State Farm Stadium and Garth Brooks performs at State Farm Stadium, Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Please plan for heavy traffic in Glendale.

If you are heading out to the Renaissance Festival this weekend, expect heavier traffic at times in the Apache Junction and Gold Canyon areas US 60 Please allow extra travel time and be prepared for slow traffic. Use caution, especially near festival parking lot access points. The festival is taking place weekends now through March 31.

That’s it for this weekend, enjoy and thank you for visiting 12news.com!
