Weekend traffic outlook for July 31 - Aug. 2

There are a few detours and closures on Valley roads this weekend. Vanessa Ramirez has the details.

PHOENIX — Here’s a breakdown of the closures and restrictions you can expect to see around the Valley this weekend.

East Valley

  • Loop 101 southbound is closed between Loop 202 Red Mountain and Loop 202 San Tan for pavement improvements from Friday 9 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. Loop 202 southbound ramps are closed to Loop 101. US 60 ramps to Loop 101 southbound are also closed. Loop 101 southbound traffic can exit before closure and detour along Price frontage road or use Loop 202 as an alternate route.
  • Loop 101 northbound is narrowed to three lanes between Baseline Road and Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) for pavement improvements from Friday 9 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. Both US 60 ramps to Loop 101 northbound are closed. Alternate routes include northbound Dobson Road or McClintock Drive.

North Valley

  • I-17 southbound is closed between Thunderbird Road and Dunlap Avenue for pavement work from Saturday 2 a.m. until Monday 5 a.m. I-17 southbound on-ramp at Greenway Road is also closed. I-17 southbound drivers also should consider exiting ahead of the closure and using southbound 19th or 35th avenues to travel beyond closure. · I-17 northbound is narrowed to one lane near Carefree Highway for pavement maintenance on Monday from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Northeast Valley

  • Loop 101 eastbound is closed between Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard for pavement improvements from Friday 10 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. SR 51 northbound ramp to Loop 101 eastbound is also closed and Cave Creek Road closed in both directions at Loop 101. Loop 101 eastbound on-ramp at Seventh Street closed as well. Please consider exiting ahead of the closure and using alternate routes including eastbound Union Hills Drive to northbound Tatum Boulevard.

As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
