Weekend traffic outlook for July 10 - July 13

There are a few detours and closures on Valley roads this weekend. Vanessa Ramirez has the details.

PHOENIX — Here’s a breakdown of the closures and restrictions you can expect to see around the Valley this weekend.

East Valley

  • Loop 101 northbound is closed between Ray Road and US 60 for pavement improvements from Friday 9 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m.  Loop 101 northbound on-ramp at Chandler Boulevard is also closed. Please allow extra travel time and expect delays. Alternate freeway routes include using Loop 202 westbound (Santan Freeway) to I-10 westbound and SR 143 northbound to reach Loop 202. Loop 101 traffic can detour on northbound Price frontage road. Local drivers should consider using northbound Dobson Road or McClintock Drive as routes to connect with US 60. Northbound traffic can re-enter Loop 101 via Southern Avenue.

North Valley

  • I-17 northbound is closed between Dunlap Avenue and Cactus Road for pavement work from Friday 11:30 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m.  The I-17 northbound on-ramp at Northern Avenue is also closed. Please allow extra travel time and expect delays. Consider alternate freeway routes including SR 51 northbound to Loop 101 westbound or (in the West Valley) northbound/eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) to avoid the I-17 closure. I-17 northbound traffic will detour along frontage road, but drivers should consider exiting ahead of the closure and using northbound 19th or 35th avenues.

Central Phoenix

  • Central Avenue is closed in both directions at I-17 for removal of old I-17 southbound bridge from Friday 10 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. Drivers should consider using 7th Street or 7th Avenue as alternate routes. I-17 drivers should still consider using I-10 in the downtown area to avoid work zone delays.

As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
