5-vehicle crash in west Phoenix leaves 1 dead, 9 hurt

The crash happened at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Coolidge Street, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

PHOENIX — One person has died after a five-vehicle crash that left 10 people, including a teenager, hospitalized on Saturday, the Phoenix Police Department said.

The crash reportedly happened around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection 67th Avenue and Coolidge Street.

Authorities said that two people were taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, two were taken in immediate critical condition, and a teenage boy was taken in critical condition as well.

One of the adults did not survive their injuries, police said.

The remaining five adults were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Right now the cause of the crash is unknown, and the scene has been turned over to Phoenix police as authorities work to learn more. 67th Avenue from Camelback Road to Hazelwood Street is closed for the investigation.
