BUCKEYE, Ariz. — A fiery crash in Buckeye over the weekend left a pregnant woman and two other people dead.

The crash involving three cars happened on Verrado Way and Van Buren Street, just south of I-10, at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday

When Buckeye police arrived, officers said they found one car on fire, another rolled over in a field and a person trapped in a third car.

Officers worked to rescue the pregnant woman trapped in the third car. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and authorities announced on Tuesday that she died.

She was identified as 18-year-old Mercedes Cabrales of Buckeye. Authorities said she was about five months pregnant when the crash happened and the baby did not survive.

A man in the rolled-over car was injured, but police said he will recover.

When crews extinguished the flames of the burning car, authorities said two bodies were found inside.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Authorities have not identified the other victims.
