PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a pollution advisory in Maricopa County due to high traces of coarse particles in the air.
Residents are encouraged to limit their outdoor activities, avoid driving off-road vehicles and leaf blowers.
Wood burning in residential fireplaces or outdoor fire pits is also prohibited while the pollution advisory is in effect on Tuesday.
People with preexisting respiratory issues are more likely to be affected by high traces of particle pollution. Residents may experience coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath, runny nose, or itchy eyes.
The advisory was issued after ADEQ estimated the Valley's particle levels were expected to rise above federal safety standards.
