Phoenix Rising FC is taking another step next February in its bid to raise its status and hopefully earn a spot in Major League Soccer.

The Rising and FC Tucson will host 11 MLS clubs in a preseason cup event from Feb. 3-24.

MLS clubs have done preseason training in Arizona the last seven years, but the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup will be the largest yet, according to the Rising.

The participating clubs are the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders, and Sporting Kansas City.

The Rising will face off against three clubs during the preseason cup: Feb. 14 vs. Colorado, Feb. 17 vs. Kansas City and Feb. 10 against a team to be named.

Phoenix was eliminated last week from contention for two upcoming MLS expansion spots, but two more slots will be filled next year, and the Rising is expected to make a significant bid.

Tickets for individual games go on sale Dec. 12. The "Mobile Mini Sun Cup Pass" grants access to all gated games in Tucson and is on sale now for $40.
