Sports can bring out the competitive fire in everyone, not just the players, and while that's encouraged among cheer squads, one University of Arizona cheerleader apparently took it too far Thursday against rival Arizona State.

The men's hoops teams were battling in Tempe when ASU's Remy Martin went to the free-throw line. That's when the cheerleader made his mark on the game.

"He was yelling, using the (megaphone) to call out people by name, which is not acceptable. And he was asked to please stop, and he chose not to," said referee Randy McCall, according to The Arizona Republic.

In one of the stranger sights you'll see at a basketball game, the cheerleader was escorted from his sideline position.

His Wildcats held off a comeback from the Sun Devils to win the game, 77-70.
