Arizona Coyotes furlough half of staff through June

The furlough will last through June 30, but the NHL club said the employees will keep health benefits while being out of work.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Coyotes announced on Friday that half of its staff will be furloughed during the coronavirus pandemic.

The furlough will last through June 30, but the NHL club said the employees will keep health benefits while being out of work.

"The developing COVID-19 situation is having a huge impact on our community and, like many companies, we are working through the challenges during this unprecedented time," said team owner Alex Meruelo.

The NHL's season has been suspended since Thursday, March 12.
