The City Council approved the purchase and installation of up to six nursing stations at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The Friendly Airport for Mothers (FAM) Act passed in Oct. 2018 requires airports receiving national grants to provide nursing facilities past security checkpoints by 2021.
Phoenix terminals 2 and 3 are in compliance.
The new nursing stations will be added to terminal 4 to ensure its compliance since it only has one terminal and it has more than 80% of the passenger traffic.
The approval stated that the nursing stations should not exceed the amount of $172,000 in a two-year contract.
Sky Harbor Airport said they received two bids and decided to go with Mamava because “they were responsive and responsible.”
The one-year contract will start as soon as July 1, 2019 with the option to extend it at the discretion of the aviation director.
