Prediction model gives Phoenix Suns 35 wins in 2019-20 season

That's almost double the wins the team had last season. Would you be satisfied?

PHOENIX - Last season for the Phoenix Suns was dismal. Between injuries, lack of quality at the point guard position, a first-year head coach that struggled, and more, the team limped to just 19 wins.

It was the team's worst season since its first season, 1968-69.

But the team had a busy offseason and added a veteran point guard in Ricky Rubio, hired a head coach that has held leadership positions in winning organizations, brought back a key element in Kelly Oubre Jr. and made several other big roster moves.

We're not going to break it all down (again) you can find more of that here as well as Charles Barkley's analysis of the Suns offseason.

Fans obviously hope the team will get back to above 20 wins next season and hopefully closer to 40 wins.

FiveThirtyEight, which focuses on statistics and analytics, forecasted win totals, percentage chances to make the playoffs and more for every single NBA team.

FiveThirtyEight projected the Phoenix Suns will finish with a record of 35-47, which would make the team tied for 13th in the Western Conference (tied with Memphis, ahead of Sacramento). That's almost double the wins the team had last year, for those not paying attention.

Furthermore, the Suns have a 13 percent chance to make the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight's model.

Now fans shouldn't expect a playoff team, after all Sir Charles guaranteed the Suns would not make the playoffs next season, but the team should certainly get above 20 wins and if the team gets above 30, even better.

While the Suns certainly improved this offseason, so did much of the Pacific Division and the Western Conference as a whole. The Lakers added Anthony Davis, the Clippers added Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Western Conference is more stacked than ever before. But, like Charles Barkely said, "You not gonna come to Phoenix and get an easy win" next year. The Suns could make things more difficult for its division rivals this upcoming season.
