Trump gets bounce in Arizona poll, but voters extremely divided

Polls of Trump's favorability ratings shows he has an iron grip on Arizona Republicans.

President Donald Trump is bouncing back in Arizona, but new polling shows voters are extremely divided over the president.

Last November, Trump's favorability rating was under water, with 48 percent of voters disapproving of his performance and 42 percent approving, according to the survey, by Phoenix-based Data Orbital.

Now, Trump is slightly above water - 46 percent favorable, 44 percent unfavorable.

But Trump has an iron grip on the Arizona GOP.

Trump's favorability is plus 69 points among registered Republicans, but minus 81 points among Democrats and minus 4 points among registered independents.

One caveat on the poll: It was done last week, before the outrage over families being broken up at the border reached a boil.

A separate Data Orbital poll released Wednesday shows a three-way split for Prop 305 -- the statewide vote on whether to repeal the Legislature's school-voucher expansion.

About one-third of respondents support the repeal, one-third oppose it and one-third are undecided.

The vote is in November.
