'Pizzagate' conspiracy theorist to join Kelli Ward on statewide bus tour, reports say

The "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory was a theory that spread in 2016 accusing a Washington D.C. pizza restaurant of running a pedophilia ring for high-profile Democrats, including then presidential-nominee Hillary Clinton.

Kelli Ward apparently doesn't "really know" what views a far-right activist and reportedly one of the main promoters of the debunked "Pizzagate" has, but he'll be joining her on her statewide bus tour.

According to Ward's website, Mike Cernovich is a "social media personality and the author of several books examining political and social trends."

Cernovich, according to Huffington Post, was also "one of the main promoters of the 'Pizzagate' conspiracy theory," a theory that spread across the internet in 2016 accusing a Washington D.C. pizza restaurant of running a pedophilia ring for high-profile Democrats, including Hillary Clinton.

The theory had real-life consequences after a man, who said he was investigating the claims, fired an assault rifle inside the restaurant. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Cernovich reportedly also had his hand in Disney's firing of director James Gunn, helping to resurface crude jokes the director made years ago.

“I couldn’t sleep. I was up until 3 a.m.,” Cernovich told Huffington Post after news broke of Gunn's firing. “That’s a lot of real sick stuff.”

When asked if she supports Cernovich's controversial views, Dr. Kelli Ward told MSNBC host Kasie Hunt she doesn't know about his views.

"I don't really know what Mike Cernovich's views are," Ward said. "I know he's got an audience and we want to serve everyone."

Hunt asked Ward if she believed the "Pizzagate" conspiracy Hillary Clinton's connection to the theory, which the MSNBC host referred to as "nonsense that has been on the internet."

"All I know about Hillary Clinton is that she would've been a terrible president," Ward said, "and I'm so thankful every single day that she isn't in the White House."

When pressed further on Cernovich, who Hunt is calling an "alt-right activist," Ward again said he has an audience that her campaign wants to tap into.

“Mike Cernovich has an audience that we want to reach and that includes Republicans, conservatives, liberals, Democrats, people of all ilks,” she said. “And so if he’s coming on the bus tour I think he’ll have a voice and he’ll have something that he wants to say.”

Ward's tour will make eight stops in two days starting in Lake Havasu City on August 24 and ending in Yuma, according to her website. Also, joining the tour is Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar.

A spokesperson for Ward told the Phoenix New Times that the tour's guests, just like Dr. Ward, are "strong on border security and supporters of the America First agenda,” before saying that the campaign "has to compete with the media" and others who are "propping up" Rep. Martha McSally.
