The Arizona Republican Party is calling for the resignation of David Stringer after the Arizona representative's comments about there not being "enough white kids to go around" caused outrage.
Rep. Stringer said immigration in recent decades has been "politically destabilizing" for the U.S. and “represents an existential threat.” He specifically expressed concern about the high percentage of minorities growing up in the state.
The video of Stringer's, a first-term Republican from Yavapai County, remarks at what appears to be a public forum began circulating on social media Tuesday.
"In light of today’s reports detailing Representative David Stringer’s comments, I am calling on him to resign immediately," Jonathan Lines, the AZ GOP chairman, said in a statement. "These words have no place in our party, or in our state."
A representative of Stringer's legislative office said he had declined an interview, but would post a statement on Facebook.
In the statement, Stringer maintains his "comments about school integration were factually accurate and were intended to illustrate the challenges facing successful integration when white students are a rapidly declining percentage of the whole." The statement went on to say that Stringer would not bow to GOP demands for his resignation.

Stringer’s legislative district includes Prescott, other parts of Yavapai County and a northern strip of Maricopa County.
