Phoenix's biggest problem is its people but weather makes living here worthwhile, millennials say

According to a study, millennials ranked Phoenix relatively high among best cities to live in U.S.

PHOENIX — Editor's note: The above video is from our "Ask Caribe" series where Caribe Devine answers questions sent in by 12 News viewers.

Millennials are pretty happy with living in Phoenix because of its weather and relatively low cost of living, according to a study.

The Langston Co., a Denver-based research firm, surveyed of nearly 3,000 millennials across 22 major cities to find which ones provide them the best value in the US Cities Scorecard For Millennials

Phoenix ranked in the top 10 cities with the best overall value. The survey asked millennials to report their satisfaction with things about Phoenix such as diversity, access to nature, traffic, taxes and everyday expenses.

The study shows millennials ranked Phoenix high in categories that relate to cost of living including property taxes, housing costs and low commute time.

Those surveyed, however, gave Phoenix low scores for culture categories. Out of the 22 cities, Phoenix was listed last or close to the bottom for restaurants, diversity and access to theatres.

I guess none of them have heard that the Valley is home to one of America's best fine dining restaurants or that Arizona is a little more than a decade away from becoming a majority-minority state

Even when asked to rank Phoenix in access to nature, the millennials surveyed scored Phoenix below average. Think of the hiking and biking trails! And the wildflowers! In fact, just this week, two Arizona wildlife parks were named among best safari parks in the US. OK, they're not in Phoenix but just a day-trip away.

I digress.

Back to the study. When asked what the biggest problem facing Phoenix, the millennials said: "the people" (uh, ouch). But at least there is one thing all Phoenicians can agree on: The best part about living here is the weather (as long as you can brave the summer months).
